Hogwarts' Ghosts 1 by edgar1975 Hogwarts' Ghosts 1 by edgar1975
One of the most characteristic aspects of Hogwarts castle are its ghostly inhabitants. Each house has its own ghost (the Fat Friar for Hufflepuff, the Grey Lady for Ravenclaw, the Bloody Baron for Slytherin and Sir Nicholas De Mimsy-Porpington (or Nearly-Headless Nick) for Gryffindor. And then there's Moaning Myrtle, who haunts the girls' toilets, History of Magic teacher, Profesor Binns and the poltergeist Peeves, who's not a ghost, since he is not dead and has never been alive. In this drawing I tried to follow the style of the illustrator I admire the most, late Al Hirschfeld. He was and still is, IMHO, the best one.

Aw I love this *faves* Peeves looks so cute... if he was looking in the bloody baron's direction he'd probably be scared to death, poor guy =( i really like how you captured the personalities of the characters in this picture though. very very very well done =)

Thanks Samweissb! Glad you liked it! Al Hirschfeld was an illustrator master and, indubitably, the Line King.

I drew it using a pencil, then inked it with a simple Pilot pen. I scanned it, and inverted and coloured it using Adobe Photoshop. As you can see, no special materials at all.

I'm glad you love it. Thanks, Underwoodwriter!

Well, I'm a big Al Hirschfels fan, and that particular sequence in Fantasia 2000 was done along with him. I consciously did this drawing imitating his personal style.

Thanks, Underwoodwriter!

My first exposure to his work was a documentary when i was 5 years old.... i think it was a playbill for my fair lady.... ever since then my work is full of lines, lines, lines...... i should call you sensei! unconciously i do all my works in line prompting many to say that my work is ala hirschfeld..... :D
